My First Fairy Garden

I have always admired people's fairy garden's, but being born with a brown thumb,
I never knew quite where to start!
My front and back yards pretty much a blank canvas, there was just lots
dirty grey sand and not an ounce of green...well apart from a tree or two.
I did try planting some plants with absolutely no knowledge of what I was
doing, and being a bit of a water miser at the time, not many things actually grew.
Ofcourse (at the time) I gave up and decided that gardening just wasn't for me!

I did learn a little and created a little garden in my front about a year ago and
it is still doing quite well...touch wood! It inspired me to plant a few more things
here and there...so far, so good.

So anyway, I started thinking about Fairy gardens again and I looked around
on Pinterest for some inspiration. Then I looked at my tree in a whole new light...
I started by trimming the branches and grabbed some old bricks we had laying around
and started to build a little framing wall. Then off to Bunnings to get some good soil
and look at some plants. I got really excited and just brought lots of small cheap plants
to start me off. Then I checked our local shops and found some cute little fairies
that were also quite cheap. Also just around the home I found some bits and pieces
that I could also add for that fairy touch.

Finally, I made my very first Fairy Garden and was really happy with the result.
I think I am hooked, hubby even said he can see it growing from there, lol, knows
me too well....
So without further ado, I present "The Blomshus Patch" named by my
9 year old daughter!

I just need to find the right Fairy house to fit inside the gap in the tree,
maybe I will visit a fish store to see if an aquarium castle will do.

There were some broken up bits of a cement slab laying around that I decided
might work as steps, and they fit quite neatly in between the roots at the
base of the tree.
The solar powered butterflies flutter around all day adding life to the garden too.

Thanks for stopping by.
